Myths and Facts Of the Agneepath scheme

  • Future of Agniveer is not secure – This is not the correct statement. All those Agniveers who are willing to become entrepreneurs will be provided a financial package and bank loan by the government. Those Agniveers who want to study further will be given an equivalent certificate and credits for higher education. Those Agniveers who are willing to get the job will be provided job opportunities in the centrally empowered security forces and state police. Apart from this, many other sectors will also be opened for the well-skilled, disciplined, and self-reliant Agniveers so that their future can be made secure.
  • Youth will get fewer opportunities – All those youths who will become Agniveers will increase their chances of recruiting as a permanent cadre in the strong-armed forces. Three times more Agni Veers will be recruited into the armed forces than the existing strength.
  • The working capacity of the armed forces will be affected– Only 3% of the total military force will be recruited into the armed forces by the Agnipath scheme in the first year. Later, checking the performance of Agniveers, they will be re-inducted into the armed forces after 4 years. With this system, the army could get experienced soldiers.
  • Regimental loyalty will be affected – There is no change made in the regimental system by the Government of India. The regimental system will be strengthened by the operation of this scheme because the best Agniveers will be selected for the permanent cadre.
  • Young soldiers will not be reliable – Most armies around the world are young (including China). With the operation of Agniveer Yojana, both young and experienced soldiers will be included in a balanced proportion.
